DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE gives "Big Hands" 3 Stars and writes:
Professor John, a Chicagoan enraptured by Nawlins music, makes a merry ruckus on his new album using treble excursions up the keys with the right hand and pounded bass figures from the left. He also sings in a deep voice and writes moderately enjoyable song to go along with fresh arrangements of historical fare such as "Down On The Farm" that allow his energized jazz-and-blues cohorts to do some parading.
