Professor John
Professor John's Band explodes onto the stage with an exciting mix of Chicago rhythm-and-blues, old-school funk and the Professor's unique brand of New Orleans-style Party Piano. With a funky sound reminiscent of the Meters or the Neville Brothers, a piano style that brings to mind Professor Longhair, Doctor John, Huey "Piano" Smith, Fats Domino, etc... and a vocal style that embodies Ray Charles, Professor John and his band put on a thrilling show that's sure to delight audiences far and wide. The band's wide-ranging repertoire features Professor John's own high-spirited originals as well as a selection of blues, rhythm-and-blues, rock-and-roll and traditional Crescent City favorites.
Professor John performs at many of Chicago's top clubs (including Fitzgerald's, The Green Mill, Martyr's, The Hideout, Shaw's Crabhouse, The Redfish, etc.) and plays festivals and concerts accross the midwest. After touring Europe and spending a busy one-year residency in New York City, Professor John has returned to Chicago to release his third album and to perform for his fans in his adopted home town.
